Cor da Pele Produções
Brazil / Rio de Janeiro
About
Cor da Pele Produções is a renowned Brazilian audiovisual and cultural production company based in Rio de Janeiro, founded by Asfilófio de Oliveira Filho (known as Dom Filó) and Carlos Alberto Medeiros. It is globally recognized for its pioneering work in documenting, recording, and fostering the culture and history of Black people. Key achievements and highlights of the company include: the Cultne Archive—the vast amount of material captured by the company since 1980 served as the foundation for Cultne, now the largest digital archive of Black culture in Latin America; audiovisual productions—the company has produced dozens of significant documentary and educational projects, such as *Afro Memória* (1980–2001) and the award-winning film *111 Tiros na Alma Negra*; and Cultne TV—the archive led to the creation of Cultne TV, a streaming platform dedicated entirely to the political, social, and cultural expressions of Black identity.
