André Rebouças Working Group
In the 1970s, the country was experiencing the “slow, safe and gradual distension process of the military regime”, which signaled possible paths towards a given democracy. One of the associations that germinated in this context of violent oppression and repression was the André Rebouças Work Group - GTAR. With a crucial role in the fight against racism, the GTAR brought together, in the academy and in other spaces, professors, black activists and students from various universities, as well as leaders in broader conflicts. It is intended to recall its little more than 20 years of activities (1975/1995), and its spread through other tracks until the current 43 years of struggles, mobilizations, stories and narratives that constitute part of a silenced history at the Fluminense Federal University.
