Nelson Sargento

Nelson Sargento, artistic name of Nelson Mattos, was a composer, singer, researcher of Brazilian popular music, plastic artist, actor and Brazilian writer. The artistic nickname "Sargento" alluded to the rank he achieved for having served in the Brazilian Army in the second half of the 1940s. 1960. But it was only in 1979, at the age of 55, that the composer recorded his first solo album. Throughout his life, the samba composer composed more than 400 compositions.
