Dona Ivone Lara

Dona Ivone Lara was a composer, singer and instrumentalist. She was born in the early 1920s, in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro. She worked as a nurse and as a social worker, until she retired and dedicated herself exclusively to music. A pioneer, she recorded 15 albums, composed countless songs and became known as Dama do Samba. Her compositions, such as Sonho Meu and Acreditar, were performed by great names in Brazilian Popular Music.
