Leci Brandão is a singer, songwriter and one of the most important samba interpreters of Brazilian popular music. She began her musical career in the early 1970s, becoming the first woman to participate in the wing of composers at Estação Primeira de Mangueira, in Rio de Janeiro. In 2004, she became an Advisor to the National Secretariat for Policies for the Promotion of Racial Equality and a member of the National Council for the Rights of Women, remaining in these posts. for two terms (4 years).
