Capoeira

Capoeira or capoeiragem is a Brazilian cultural expression that mixes martial art, sport, popular culture, dance and music. The origin of capoeira dates back to the time of slavery in Brazil, it was a form of struggle and resistance. The word capoeira means "what was mata", through the connection of the terms ka'a ("mata") and pûer ("que que"). Capoeira was declared an intangible heritage of humanity in 2014 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
