Meeting of the Africas

Artists from Brazil, Cuba and Senegal will synthesize the cultural contributions of African peoples with performances from drums to electronic music. The event was attended by the Senegalese Zal Sissokho and the Cuban René Ferrer. Also present at the event were percussionist and drummer from Rio, Robertinho Silva and band; the composer of great MPB hits, Altay Veloso; and the São Paulo singer Cellia Nascimento, who performed with rapper and cultural agent MC Slow Dabf. The public can also listen to André Sampaio & os Afro mandinga, or MC Papo Reto; the carioca band Stereo Maracanã; and the rapper and composer, member of the group Racionais MC's, Edi Rock. The initiative had the support of singer Gilberto Gil.
