The collection “As Três Graças do Brasil” by stylist Mônica Sampaio, founder of the Santa Resistência brand, pays homage to three leading women on the path to Brazilian independence: the indigenous Catarina Paraguaçu, the black Maria Felipa and the white Maria Quitéria. At different times in Brazil's history, they worked alongside the poor, indigenous people, farmers and women to defend the Recôncavo region. This importance was due, among other reasons, because it is a work made by a black director and screenwriter, with work and recognized and notorious talent as an actor who has important participation in Brazilian cinema and audiovisual, and for having a mostly black cast. , including the main characters, a rare fact in Brazilian cinema. In addition, an important element for an educational approach to this work is its perspective of the representation of the image of the black population through the construction of its characters, which has an affinity with the work of NEAB Sankofa with regard to the critical observation of representation. , in the media and in education, of cultures, peoples, social segments in their participation in our History, as well as the observation of the reproduction of stereotypes in the representation and production of the image of black characters in Communication, in general, and, especially, in the educational context.
