Ruth de Souza

Ruth de Souza was born on May 12, 1921 in Rio de Janeiro. She started to participate in the group of actors of the Experimental Negro theater. After receiving a study ball from the Rockefeller Foundation, she spent a year in the United States, studying at Harvard University and at the National Academy of American Theater. His screen debut came in 1948, in the film Terra Violenta. She was nominated for a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for her film Sinhá Moça. In addition to the theater and cinema, she had an important participation in miniseries, soap operas and teleteatros.
