Marielle Francisco da Silva, known as Marielle Franco, was a Brazilian sociologist and politician. Affiliated to the Socialism and Freedom Party, she was elected councilor of Rio de Janeiro for the 2017-2020 Legislature, during the 2016 municipal election, with the fifth largest vote. On March 14, 2018, Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Pedro Gomes were killed with 13 shots.
