IX Black Beauty Night of the Afro Ilê Aiyê Block, held in 1998 in Salvador da Bahia, Ilê Aiyê, or simply Ilê, is the oldest Afro-Brazilian carnival block in the city of Salvador, in the state of Bahia. Created on November 1, 1974, Ilê becomes the first Afro bloc in Brazil and today constitutes a cultural group fighting for the valorization and inclusion of the Afro-descendant population, inspiring the creation of many other cultural groups in Brazil and in the world.

Enugbarijô Comunicações by Ras Adauto and Vik Birkbeck registered the Festival of Music and Arts of Olodum - FEMADUM in 1988. Gilberto Gil toasted the audience in Pelourinho with his hit "Toda Menina Bahiana".
