On the same day, the 80th birthday of Carlos Negreiros, the last remaining musician from the original formation of the orchestra, founded in 1942, was celebrated.

The show was part of the second Gamboa de Portos Abertos festival and took place at Casa de Mystérios, a movement that unites those who make Art, Culture and Education in the port area of Rio de Janeiro. The group is a mixture of the various rhythms - MPB, Jongo, Maracatu, Congada and Ciranda - it gains bold arrangements strongly marked by polyiritmia, conceived by Carlos Negreiros, through the percussive voices in the tambourines played by Pedro Lima, Marcelo Durão and Filipe Paiva. Added to these are the sound of the agogô, and the guitar, with Negreiros in charge of the atabaque, the drum of the tongue and the vocal interpretation.

Fondé par la chef d'orchestre Abigail Moura (1904-1970) en 1942, le groupe musical ne sort que deux albums, celui de 1968 étant considéré comme un classique de la musique populaire brésilienne. Le son mélangeait, entre autres rythmes, opanijé et alujá (spécial pour Omolú et Xangô, respectivement), avec les bases des multiples cadences trouvées dans les cultes des religions d'origine africaine. L'émission «Orquestra Afro-Brasileira em Cena» a été enregistrée le 29 avril 2021 à Armazém da Utopia (RJ), diffusée le 13 mai par Cultne.TV. L'Orchestre Afro-Brésilien était à 40 ans de la scène, mais à son retour, en 2017, pour sortir le CD intitulé «Afro-Brazilian Orchestra 75 Years», il a surpris la scène artistique nationale par la qualité de l'œuvre dotée d'un caractère unique. son signé par le musicien, compositeur et baryton Carlos Negreiros. L'orchestre a sauvé avec beaucoup de style la première expérience d'érudition de la musique noire au Brésil.
