Religious Intolerance - Alerj Debate 2019

Program Alerj Debate held on August 15, 2019 at TV Alerj studios under the command of journalist Fernanda Nogueira, with the participation of deputy Mônica Francisco; the teacher and babalawo Ivanir dos Santos; and babalorixã Jonhy de Odé.

13th Walk in Defense of Religious Freedom 2020

The “Walk in Defense of Religious Freedom” has been taking place since 2008, in Rio de Janeiro. It brings together different religious and civil society currents, with the objective of making the theme of religious intolerance in the country more visible, especially with regard to Afro-Brazilian religions. In 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 13th Walk took place in the virtual environment.

Salvador was the starting point of the documentary film A Luta Sagrada - O Combate a Intolerância in the State of Bahia, released on September 11, 2018, at 6 pm, in the Art Room - Cinema of the Museum, in the Corredor da Vitória.

National Day to Combat Religious Intolerance - Olivia Santana Cultne with images and editing by Filó Filho and Pedro Oliveira recorded on January 21 at Teatro Castro Alves in Salvador, Bahia. On that occasion, the event marked the National Day to Combat Religious Intolerance. On January 21, Brazilian society celebrates the National Day to Combat Religious Intolerance. On that same date, in 2000, in Bahia, a priestess of Candomblé, Gildásia dos Santos and Santos died. The ialorixá – Mãe de santo – was a victim of a stroke after having her face printed on the cover of the publication of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (IURD) with the headline “charlatan macumbeiros harm customers' pockets and lives”.

X Walk in Defense of Religious Freedom - 2017

10th Walk in Defense of Religious Freedom bringing together about 50 thousand people, bringing together mainly believers from religions of Afro-Brazilian origin, but also representatives of Christian churches, the Jewish community and other religions (Baha'i, Wicca, Kardecist, Buddhist and Hare Krishna). In recent years, the State Commission for Combating Religious Intolerance (CCIR), in partnership with the Center for Articulation of Marginalized Populations (Ceap), has been drawing the attention of society and public authorities to the danger of building a theocratic state in a country constitutionally secular as Brazil.
