Weblixo 2: Sustainability & Environment

With images and editing by Rodrigo Savastano, Filó Filho, Alvaro Araujo, Diene and Xandão, in October 2012 a total of 30 computers were distributed to students who participated in the WEBLIXO project at Monte Castelo Municipal School, in Coelho Neto. The project included lectures and recreational activities under the theme of the environment with the students. The event also featured the participation of DJs and B.Boys under the command of rapper MC Slow DaBF and the participation of DJ TR, a writer who lectured brilliantly under the formation of the Hip Hop culture and his arrival in Brazil.

The Precursors of the Cultne Collection

The creators of the Cultne project, Filó Filho and Vik Birkbeck talk about the project that started in the early 1980s. Producers aware of all this movement and trained to record this effervescence: Ras Adauto and Vik Birkbeck founded Enúgbarijo Comunicações, which took the name of the ex messenger, Boca Coletiva. Filó Filho and Carlos Alberto Medeiros founded Cor da Pele Produções, in addition to the Griot concept, via Quilombo Eletrônico. With the advent of the first portable and independent video cameras, they traveled all over the city of Rio de Janeiro, where they were easily spotted on the streets, hills, avenues, halls, as well as passing by the Clube Palmares de Volta Redonda and filming the excitement in the cities of Juiz de Fora, Belo Horizonte, Salvador and São Paulo. The result is a gigantic collection of video material.

Minister Luiza Bairros visiting Rio de Janeiro, spoke to Cultne during the launch of the National Journalist Abdias Nascimento Award.
