We are LUB - Urban Basketball League, with a focus on urban culture, especially basketball played on the streets. It is us!! It's LUB !!
LUB was characterized by its work with the binomial Sport and Citizenship. The organization focuses on the development of basketball on the streets. Its concepts are: the solidification of a culture of solidarity; the permanent mobilization for peace; and encouraging positive values ??associated with sport and group spirit. Its vision of the future is to provide the development of basketball, forming partnerships and enabling social, educational and sports activities with the target audience. Among its projects, the highlights are Sport, Culture, Citizenship and Employment and Income Generation.
Since its creation, the street basketball teams in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo have been a constant presence in the media, having participated in articles in magazines and television programs such as: Jornal Nacional and Mais Você (TV Globo), SBT Brasil and SBT Rio (SBT), Fala Brasil and Informe Rio (Record Network), Band Rio (TV Bandeirantes), TV Network, Stadium (TVE), Sport TV, Multishow, Época Magazine, Raça Magazine, Isto É, Jornal dos Sports, Lance, O Dia, Extra, among others.
Streetfest SP marked the meeting of great challenges. One of them that caught fire at the Pacaembu Gymnasium was the meeting of LUBs from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in the male and female categories.

LUB no Players Festival 2012
Cultne recorded with images and edition of Filó Filho the performance of LUB - Urban Basketball League at the Players Festival that took place at Nightclub 00 in Gávea in July 2012. There were athletes Wanderson WG de Rua, Carlinhos Soul, João Marcos Ghetto Square and Wagner da Silva Snoop. On the occasion there was the sound of DJ Flávia Xexéo and the group show Start de Hip Hop.
The Players Festival brings together various elements of hip-hop: rap, skateboarding, graffiti, streetball, break dancing with b-boys and free style with MCs and DJs, musical groups and graffiti artists from various states of the country have gathered to spread the word. street culture in the Marvelous City in this event that is divided into two stages: Players by Day, which runs from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm with free entry, and Players by Night, which starts right after and only ends at 5:00 am. There were the graffiti exhibition by Airá Ocrespo and performances by DJ Marcelinho MG with MC Aori at Batalha do Real. At the party at night, there are paintings free of graffiti, DJ Machintal, Opalão 76, DJ Saddam and DJ Tamempi, Mc Coé, Karol Conká with DJ Nave, DJ RM2, Start, Flavia Xexéo, Gustavo Tatá, among others.
LUB at Jornal Nacional - 2004
Founded in August 2004, LUB - Liga Urbana de Basquete arrived on the Brazilian scene as a pioneer with street basketball or streetball in Brazil. With the binomial "Sport and Citizenship" she earned in February 2005 deservedly more than 3 minutes of notoriety in Jornal Nacional on TV Globo.
The LUB with its magic and the art of basketball-show enchanted young people in Brazil and abroad, having won respect, social inclusion and trained young athletes, today better citizens and proud of their trajectories. The LUB - Urban Basketball League, the art of basketball spectacle visited the Instituto Bola Pra Frente sports center in 2010 for the joy of the young people who were there.
The term "Streetball" does not only originate from the game known as Streetbasketball but also has a special association with youth culture. Sport is connected to the image of the ghetto, which is linked to music (RAP and HipHop). This association is probably due to Streetbasketball's roots, found in the backyards of large American cities, where many young people from the poorest communities in the United States see sport and Streetball as a greater and special possibility for a better future.
LUB at Fundição Progresso
LUB - Liga Urbana de Basquete, a non-profit organization active in urban culture, especially in street sports, performed in 2007 during the Charlie Brown Jr show at Fundição Progresso. Inside the facilities of the Fundição, a mini court was set up with a rim table and chain for entertainment with the public present who participated in the game and won cans of RedBull that paid for the activity. In addition to Red Bull, Wilson strengthened the event with its products.
The band Charlie Brown Jr founded in 92 considers itself "daughter" of a generation of musicians and bands like Raimundos, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nação Zumbi, and Planet Hemp. The group's sound was influenced by groups such as Sublime, Bad Brains, 311, mixing hardcore, skateboarding and reggae. The vocalist and leader of the band, Chorão, is a skateboarder, even appearing in the best positions of the ranking of several Brazilian championships, and usually presents at shows on a skateboard. Around 1993, they started playing in the underground circuit of Santos and São Paulo and doing shows at various skate events. The quintet's first performances took place in Santos and São Paulo, especially at skate championships.

Capoeira and streetball
In 2005, LUB visited the São Martinho institution in Lapa in Rio de Janeiro. The athletes Pedro Ivo and Leandro Discreto interacted with the street children served by the institution. In the opportunity they were able to get to know streetball better along with capoeira practiced on the spot.
