In 1978, the first volume of the CADERNOS NEGROS series appeared, containing eight poets who shared the costs of the book, published in a 52-page pocket format. The publication, sold mainly in a major release, later circulated from hand to hand, being distributed to a few bookstores, but obtained a significant return from those who had access to it. Since then, and uninterruptedly, other volumes have been released - one per year - alternating poems and tales of different styles. Distribution has improved, seeking to reach a wider and more diversified audience than that reached by the first volumes. Writers from various states in Brazil have been publishing in Cadernos Negros.
Black Literature - Miriam Alves
The poet writer Miriam Alves spoke to Cultne about the trajectory of black literature, especially the beginnings of the meetings of poets and fictionalists that began in the 1980s. Miriam Alves publishes poems and short stories since 1983. Member of Quilombhoje Literatura from 1980 to 1989, her works are included in anthologies and theses at Universities inside and outside Brazil, giving lectures in several cities and states in Brazil, Europe (Austria, 1995) and at several renowned Universities in the USA, among them Columbia University, New York (2003).

Luiz Silva, known by the pseudonym of Cuti, is a Brazilian writer, poet and playwright. Graduated in Literature at the University of São Paulo in 1980, he obtained a master's degree in Theory of Literature and a doctorate in Brazilian Literature from Unicamp. he is one of the founders of the Coletivo Quilombhoje that produces the CADERNOS NEGROS series. Black Literature - Cristiane Sobral
The writer and actress Cristiane Sobral spoke to Cultne about her work in black literature. For her, real life is not enough for her. Literature and theater do not exist simply to show what the world is like. The writer and actress Cristiane Sobral was born in 1974 and moved to Brasília in 1990, where eight years later she would become the first black woman to complete the Theater Interpretation course at the University of Brasília (UnB).
Black Anthology 2011 - Literature
Lancement en novembre 2011 de la collection "Littérature et descendance afro au Brésil: anthologie critique", organisée par le professeur Eduardo de Assis Duarte, de la Faculté des lettres de l'Université fédérale de Minas Gerais (UFMG), La collection rassemble, en quatre volumes, une série d'essais et des références biographiques et bibliographiques sur une centaine d'écrivains, de l'époque coloniale à nos jours. Grâce à la collaboration de 61 chercheurs de 21 universités brésiliennes et de six universités étrangères, la collection cherche à organiser la réflexion académique actuelle encore dispersée sur le sujet.
