Behind the Scenes of Police Violence 1982 - Marcos Romão
Cultne produced, with archival images by Ras Adauto and Vik Birkbeck, current images by Alexandre Dias and edition by Filó Filho, the record for reflection on the 125 Years of the Abolition of Slavery. In 1982, in Rio de Janeiro, photographer Luiz Mourier from Jornal do Brasil brought to the world the reality experienced by blacks and poor people in this country. In an inhumane and racist attitude, the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro approached and arrested a group of blacks using ropes around their necks in an area near Estrada Grajaú Jacarepaguá, in the northern part of Rio de Janeiro.

Where's Amarildo
Amarildo Dias de Souza (Rio de Janeiro, 1965/1966) was a Brazilian stonemason's assistant, a resident of Rocinha, who became known nationally because of his disappearance, since July 14, 2013, after being detained by military police and driven from the door of his house, in Favela da Rocinha, towards the headquarters of the neighborhood's Pacifying Police Unit. His disappearance became a symbol of cases of abuse of authority and police violence.1 The main suspects in Amarildo's disappearance are the police itself.
