COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? - I AM NOT WELL TODAY (Macau) - MAYLA HADALLA & NANDA FELLYX

This song is from 2015, recent for so much life right? I remember writing at home, nothing new, I make music at home every day, sometimes I keep redoing the same music day and day, sometimes months and months and even years and years. But I often make a song and that's it. This was more or less like that, I defined at Sandra's house. She was making some savory cookies in the kitchen and I went to make coffee, a demand from everyone because my coffee is very good, modesty aside!!! As soon as I finished coffee, I started playing.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – GENERAL OFF (Macau) – AUGUSTO BAPT

I joke that Shutdown Geral is a song from my contemporary phase, the 2000s, I love this song, but I don't know if I can separate my songs into phases, but!!!. It was recorded for the first time on my first CD “Macau The Way That Your Soul Understands” which is on all streaming platforms, a beautiful work that was directed by Sandra de Sá. I also have a record that I love, Sandra singing Shutdown General in the rehearsal studio, Be Happy. We were all working on the repertoire and it was time for General Shutdown. I had gone out to smoke a cigarette (today I don't smoke any more) and the work had to continue.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – CENTRAL TRAIN (Macau/Sandra de Sá/Durval Ferreira) – SANDRA DE SÁ

The song TREM DA CENTRAL is a creation of mine in partnership with Sandra de Sá and Durval Ferreira. The three of us, each with their art, brought “Colorful Eyes” to the world and never parted again. A lot of beautiful things came out of our “brilliant” minds and one of them is “Trem da Central” which was recorded by Sandra on the 1983 LP VALE TUDO. I remember very well that Sandra was already in the studio and Tim Maia appeared with Vale Tudo, it was a blow, how not to record? And that was how, it was suddenly that Trem da Central got mixed up with Vale Tudo. It was an honor to have my music on the same LP with signatures by Tim Maia and Sandra de Sá.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – Medley: THE COLOR OF COFFEE (Macau) / ETOILE (Macau)

“THE COLOR OF COFFEE, how I like this song!!! A song from the early 2000s, I was still a resident of Rocinha. She talks about black women, the ones I met and also the ones that are in my imagination. I tried to pay homage, to sing the beauty, strength and struggles of black women in a poetic way. I made several records of this song at Warner Chappell and in 2016 I managed to release “Da Cor do Café” on my first solo CD “Macau, The Way That Your Soul Understands” which is available on all digital platforms.”

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? - medley - ATTITUDE / BEFORE THE DAY IS END / CROPS.

The songs ATITUDE and BEFORE THE DAY ENDS I composed between 2013 and 2015 and released them both on my second EP “Macau, Before the day ends”. I consider these two songs part of my contemporary phase because they talk a little bit with my day-to-day life, with my perceptions of the present. PAPO DE DOIDÃO is one of the songs (and there are many) that I composed in partnership with my friend Sandra de Sá, in the 90s, and its first record was a single that I released now in 2020. We can say that it is part of mine. work and my life, which changed after Eyes Colored.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – THE PALM OF MY HAND IS BLACK (Macau) – BNEGÃO

I remember several times I've seen people startled by the palm of my black hand. That's something, is not it? We blacks are perceived as a variation of the color black, from the darkest to the lightest. And it is how we feel the prejudice and discrimination that we suffer throughout life.

COLORED EYES AN ANTHEM? - EYES OF THE NIGHT (Macau) – MAYLA HADALLA & NANDA FELLYX

“Olhos da Noite” is one of my many compositions where the main characters are the “eyes and the gaze”. Colored Eyes, Animal Look, Innocent Look, Honey Eyes, Child Eyes and Night Eyes are some of them. It's a shame that through the eyes, the look, we receive the scourge of racism!!! Over time I was able to understand and transform this pain into music and poetry. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I've survived this far!!!

COLORED EYES AN ANTHEM? - Traps of Life (Macau-Cezar Reis) – NANDA FELLYX

This song I composed with my friend Cezinha. He still lives in the São Sebastião Crusade and is part of my history. We come from Praia do Pinto, an extinct favela that was located in Leblon where today there is a complex of middle-class buildings. A life!!! Returning to our song “Traps of Life”, it was created in one of the moments when my friend Cezinha visited me.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? - A BLACK SCREAM (Macau/Gabriel Moura) – FILHOS DE SÁ.

This is one of the many songs I wrote when I was still living in Rocinha, in the late 90's. It represents my story, my life, my muffled scream, finally my truth. When I finished the work I liked the result but I thought there was a part missing, I wasn't completely satisfied. When I moved to Laranjeiras, in 2004, I started to live with my friend Gabriel Moura, my neighbor in the neighborhood, and we often met to compose. One day, at one of our meetings, I presented “Um Grito Negro” to him and he quickly found what he was missing. The song was done.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? - VICTIMS OF THE WORLD (Macau, Soca Fagundes and Bnegão) - BNEGÃO

“Vitimas do Mundo” is from the time I lived in Rocinha, from 1981 to 2004. The song was born when Soca was producing Rocinha's “Natal sem hunger”, I think it was in 2002 that he showed me the lyrics. The song was finished, but I felt something was missing, I wanted to rap it. In 2011 we invited Bnegão and that's it, we closed the lid!!!

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – RAW BEEF (MACAU/SERGIO PÉO/PAULO MARCIO GOMES) – AUGUSTO BAPT

Carne Crua or Liberdade for the boys of the city is a song, still unpublished, which was composed by me and my friends Sergio Péo and Paulo Marcio back in the late 90's and, of course, it was at Peo's house, which was always the place where we gathered to talk, celebrate, sing, laugh, create, compose, etc......

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – PURE CHARM (MACAO) – VERONICA BONFIM

This song, still unpublished, was composed by me, I think in the 90's, in Teresópolis, at the site of my friend Durval Ferreira, that friend who, when he heard Olhos Colored for the first time, put Sandra Sá in my life. At that time I was involved in a musical project with my friend Daniel, a musician and great Australian arranger, living in Rio. One of the songs in the repertoire was Puro Charme.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – DOCUMENT IN HAND (Macau) – BNEGÃO

The song “Documento na Mão” was composed by me in the 90s, already living in Rocinha, in the middle of everything and everyone!!! I walked a lot through the alleys and jumped from favela to favela in search of sound, people, music, city dances, the black world. I love this song because it portrays my wanderings through the night of the Rio favelas and, of course, as I always witnessed the cowardice of the daily lives of young black people and felt and experienced the hardships of the police, sometimes in the corners, without justification, it came out like this “Documento na Mão ”.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – PLEASE TAKE ME (Macau) – MAYLA HADALLA

“The song PLEASE TAKE ME was composed by me in the 70s, a time when I lived between two extremes of my life and musical career, the church, where I composed and coordinated the Santos Anjos Church Choir, at the São Sebastião Crusade in Leblon and my Banda Paulo Bagunça and Tropa Maldita where I was a musician, singer and composer.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – THE FRIEND FROM NEW YORK (MACAU/DURVAL FERREIRA) - AUGUSTO BAPT

The song “O Amigo de New York” was composed by me, Macau, and my friend, the composer and music producer Durval Ferreira, who in 1981 received me in his office at RGE and had the patience to listen to several songs that I composed recorded in a cassette tape and among them he discovered one, “Colorful Eyes” which, to my happiness, became a “hit” in Sandra de Sá's voice. After that we became partners in many songs and one of them, “O Amigo de New York” he performed for Emilio Santiago, who recorded in 1983 on his LP “Mais que Um Momento”.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – ABSTRACT GROWTH (Macau/Marcos Vilella) FILHOS DE SÁ

“This song has a story worth telling here. My wife Moara worked at a company and one fine day one of her colleagues left the company leaving some papers on the table. She, in order to tidy up, collected them one by one to throw away or keep in case he came back for it. On one of these pieces of paper she saw a text that did not go unnoticed, a letter, some scribbles in the corner of the sheet that made sense.

COLORED EYES AN ANTHEM? – CARIOCA (Macau/Paulo Bagunça) – NANDA FELLYX

This song has a lot of history, it comes from far away, from the time when I used to live with my friends from Cruzada São Sebastião, at the time of Tropa Maldita. At the time when my friends were alive and very much alive: Paulinho and Congolês, the cream of Tropa Maldita, I miss you!!!

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? - NOTHING TO DECLARE (Macau/Luiz Melodia) - NANDA FELLYX

On a day like this in the past, I think at the end of the 90's, I received a phone call and on the other end of the line I heard the voice of my friend Luiz Melodia: “there, Macau, I have a quarry to send you”. Some time later, I received the lyrics for Nada a Declarar, the only song I composed with my lifelong friend.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? - SAUDADE (Macau/Sandra de Sá) - SANDRA DE SÁ

Sandra and I, you can't sum up our partnership in a few words, Colorful Eyes united us forever, in a natural way. We discovered a musical identity and SAUDADE was one of the first songs we did together, it was a fertile period for our moments. I love this song and whenever I meet Sandra I sing this song so she will never forget it, I always wanted her to record it, I think it's like her. When choosing the repertoire of this live includes this song of ours. “COLORFUL EYES, A ANTHEM? a live with Sandra de Sá interpreting SAUDADE, what happiness, beautiful!!! Thank you Sandra!!!

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? – ANIMAL LOOK (Macau) – MAYLA HADALLA

OLHAR ANIMAL is a song by me that is part of the LP PAULO BAGUNÇA E A TROPA MALDITA, my band's album released in 1973, by Continental (today Warner Music). This song, which was interpreted by me on the record, was arranged by Laércio de Freitas. Laércio, in one of those recording days, looked at me and said “Macau what's yours?”. I still wonder, why did he say that? And every time I think about it, different things come to mind. I don't even know if he remembers, but I remember it very well. It was a great honor for us to have maestro Laércio de Freitas on our LP.

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? - MESSENGER (Macau/Paulo Bagunça) - MACAU & MAYLA HADALLA

On Live COLORED EYES, A ANTHEM? which took place on 03/14/2021, MACAU invited dear MAYLA HADALLA to sing MENSAGEIRO, a song he composed with his friend PAULO BAGUNÇA and which was recorded on the LP “PAULO BAGUNÇA E A TROPA MALDITA” released by Continental in 1973 .

COLORED EYES, AN ANtheM? - TWO TYPES (Macau/Durval Ferreira/Ronaldo Fialho) MACAU & BNEGÃO

BNegão brightened the night of Sunday 14/3 with his beautiful interpretation of TWO TYPES. A song I composed with Durval Ferreira and Ronaldo Fialho. Which was performed on my first CD “Macau, Do Jeito Que Sua Alma Understanding” by Luiz Melodia. And now, in my apotheotic Live, COLORED EYES, A ANTHEM? BNegão rocked!!! How can I thank you for such an honor!!! Listen!!! Watch!!!
