Launch of the book O Nascimento do Samba, written by Martinho da Vila, with illustration by journalist and cartoonist Ikenga. The event took place on August 8, 2013 at the João Nogueira Cultural Center, the Imperator in the Méier neighborhood where it currently hosts the exhibition of Martinho da Vila's 45-year artistic career. Nascimento do Samba is the author's 11th book that has a facet of literature still unknown to the general public.

Le titre a été accordé par l'Université fédérale de Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) sur la base d'une proposition présentée par le Département des lettres vernaculaires de la Faculté des lettres. Le titre approuvé par le Conseil universitaire indique que l'artiste «est devenu un médiateur entre la culture populaire et érudite, en raison de ses qualités biculturelles en tant que maître populaire et idole de l'industrie culturelle, ce qui a amélioré ses performances dans la promotion de la culture populaire et de la militantisme contre le racisme dans la société brésilienne ».

Martinho da Vila - Flisamba 2021
The 4th edition of the Literary Festival of Samba and Cultural Resistance honored the singer, composer and writer Martinho da Vila. The festival had the format of an electronic magazine broadcast in the virtual environment, on the 8th, 9th and 10th of February 2021, with the traditional mix of samba, literature, audiovisual and online fair. Its mission is to value the diversity of black culture, unite samba and other traditional rhythms to literary production, in addition to celebrating stories of black protagonism.
Master Class with Martinho da Vila - IFCS / UFRJ
On March 21, 2017, the international day against racial discrimination, the UFRJ History Institute invited the writer, singer and composer Martinho da Vila to the Aula Magna of the first semester of 2017, who received the title of Doctor from UFRJ Honoris Causa. Martinho at the Senegal Ballet in Rio - 1990
